The roots of our church run deep into LeRoy history. They began to grow five years after the first family arrived in 1827, settling south of the site that was to become LeRoy. By 1832 Peter Buckles, son of the original settlers, James Rutledge and J D. Baker had resolved to establish a church for the glory of God and thier own spiritual enrichment.
At the time, only a dozen families lived in this area, then known as Buckles Grove. Imagine the great vitality and spiritual ardor of these three young men in their determination to establish a church in this rich but lonely land of prairie and timber!
